Foreword Village Hall

Foreword

During the production of the Parish Plan for Hutton le Hole in 2004 a book recording the events that led to the building and furnishing of the Village Hall came to light. It provides a fascinating insight into the efforts of those involved. Also chronicled are its many uses.

Kept originally in a cupboard, that is still in situ, on the west side of the stage, it is now lodged with the Village Hall Secretary for safekeeping.

To make this wonderful account available to everyone Heather Pettiford decided to make a copy. While the presentation has been adapted the wording is that of Mrs Burnley who was Secretary of the Committee of Management from the very beginning until her death in 1968 at the age of 89.

Also included as additional information are copies of newspaper cuttings of the time, letters, and notices found within the book.

Hopefully its contents will inspire future generations to preserve the building and ensure its continued use.

The original may be viewed by prior arrangement.
