Message from a Hirer of the Village Hall

March, 2012

I would just like to confirm our thanks to you & your Village Hall Committee for the use of your Hall, last weekend.

  • The Hall provided a fabulous meeting place for our 50 family members.
  • The games equipment kept the younger (& some of the older) members very happy.
  • The balcony made a great area for the younger ones to gather & play games.
  • The stage is superb & really helps to make it an interesting venue. Your electric piano came to life & supported some music from sax, trumpet & guitar players.
  • The kitchen is excellent & made it easy for us to put together meals from the food that each group brought with them.
  • On Sunday, we had a beautiful day for a walk. 15 of us headed off on the route towards Gillamoor.
  • Even cleaning up was easy. The teenagers seemed keen to use your massive mop for doing the hall floor. A quick vac of the kitchen area & job done.
  • Everyone enjoyed themselves

Wartime Weekend Dance 14 October

October, 2012

The Village Hall hosted a War Weekend dance on Saturday 13 October. The Hall looked great, bedecked as it was with bunting made from newspapers, headline news from WW2 on all the walls and balloons in red, white and blue. The tables were beautifully set out and stocked with war memorabilia. The band was somewhat eccentric but this only added to the authentic and fun feel of the occasion . Phil and Anna ran the bar with great expertise and we served a tasty meal of corned beef hash, Savoy cabbage and peas followed by jelly and cream. Heather ran an excellent raffle with some typical WW2 goodies supplemented by some attractive 2012 prizes and she organised an air raid that we all survived. There was plenty of dancing and a good time was had by one and all. The event raised over £400 for Village Hall funds. A great thank you to all who made it happen.
