Play Reading
On Saturday 1 March the Amateur Play Reading Society met in the Village Hall to read ‘A Fishy Business’ a light hearted comedy set in the 1970s about a dinner party where things inevitably don’t go to plan. As with previous performances the audience really appreciated the efforts of all the players who entered into their roles with great enthusiasm. Many thanks to all who bravely ‘trod the boards’ and to all who came along to give their support.

 

Ceilidh March 2014
The Ceilidh held on Saturday 15 March in the Village Hall raised £596 for St Chad’s Church. The event brought together villagers and along with their guests it proved to be a very enjoyable evening. Music was provided by the Ampleforth Junior Ceilidh Band. The organisers would like to express their thanks to all who came along on the night and also those who helped set up the hall, provided raffle prizes, made supper for the band, supplied posters and tickets (free of charge) and helped to clean up on the Sunday morning. Again, thank you all for your support.

 

Coffee Morning and Bake Off
The Coffee Morning and Bake Off held on 22 March in the Village Hall was very successful and received great support and contributions. The Bake Off, as last year, proved to be a competitive and enjoyable event. The money raised for the Village Hall was £150.15. Grateful thanks to the organisers and all who gave their support.

 

Cake Stall & Duck Race St Chad’s + Children’s Crafts Village Hall
On Easter Sunday a Cake Stall on the Green from noon followed by a Duck Race at 3pm raised funds for the Flower Festival to be held in St Chad’s between 22-29 August. Children’s Crafts were available in the Village Hall between 12 – 2pm.

 

75th Anniversary Village Hall 1939-2014
To mark the occasion a Community Meal was held. The Hall was beautifully decorated, the food plentiful and delicious, and those who came along had a wonderful time. The organiser, Sammie Phoenix, deserves much credit for her efforts – she had obviously put a lot of thought and time into the event. The evening was interspersed with games evocative of those played in 1939 which added to everyone’s enjoyment. Many thanks to all who made a contribution and for being there to celebrate this milestone.

 

Macmillan Nurses – A Night In
A fund raising evening for Macmillan nurses was held in Hutton le Hole Village Hall on Friday 16 May.

 

Annual Open Meeting 2014
The Annual Open Meeting was held on Tuesday 20 May 2014 in the Village Hall. Reports were received from the Parish Council, Village Hall, St Chad’s, Ryedale Folk Museum, Table Tennis, Bowls, & Pilates. Thank you to those who attended.

 

Duck Race St Catherine’s Hospice
A duck race in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice was held in Hutton le Hole at 3pm on 26 May 2014.
This was preceded by a cake stall on the Green from 12 noon.

 

Fashion Swap Party
A Fashion Swap Party was held in Hutton le Hole Village Hall on Friday 13 June helping to raise funds for the Hall, Sinnington Play Group and Gillamoor Primary School.

 

Scarecrow Trail
A Scarecrow Trail was staged in Hutton le Hole on Friday 8 August to Sunday 10 August. Trail sheets were available at the Ryedale Folk Museum. Prizes were awarded in varying categories. The event raised £137 for Village Hall funds. Thank you to all who participated.

 

Vintage Cream Tea
A Vintage Cream Tea was served in the Village Hall on Sunday 22 June from 4.30 to 6.30pm with live music and a Wimbledon themed Duck Race.
The event was a brilliant success and raised £380 for the Village Hall. Many thanks to the organisers and to everyone who came along and gave their support.

 

Village Fete 2014
This was held on Sunday 20th July 2014 between noon and 4pm on the Village Green.
It was a very enjoyable afternoon and raised £1539 for Village Hall Funds.
Thank you to everyone for your effort and support.

 

Fruit & Produce Show
This event was held on Saturday 9 August at Appleton le Moors Village Hall. The number of entries was 476 from the 78 people who participated. The auction of produce after the show raised £236.27. From the total proceeds a donation of £300 was made to the local Alzheimer’s Society. Thank you to everyone who entered and supported the event.

 

St Chad’s Flower Festival 2014
St Chad’s Flower Festival was open to the public between 10am & 5pm from Friday 22 August until Friday 29 August.
Thank you to all the flower arrangers who worked their magic and to everyone who contributed to the event. The total sum raised was an impressive £2000.

 

Race Night
Hutton le Hole Bowls Club hosted a Race Night in the Village Hall on 26 September 2014. The event raised £2060 for the club who would like to thank everyone who sponsored races, bought horses, raffle tickets, donated prizes and attended what was a very enjoyable the evening.

 

40s Dance – Wartime Weekend
Our 1940s dance took place in the Village Hall on the Saturday of the War Weekend and again proved a resounding success. Over 80 people from the village and all over the country enjoyed the Dave Clegg Band, supper by Janet and Brian Thomson of The Barn and a truly unified and very British atmosphere created by numerous villagers. The event raised £822 for Village Hall Funds. Thank you to everyone who gave their support.

 

Harvest Thanksgiving
At the Crown on Sunday 12 October the produce that was donated to the Harvest Festival was auctioned and raised £251 for St Chad’s.

Remembrance Sunday 9 November 2014
This was marked by the traditional ceremony at the War Memorial at 10.55 am preceded by a gathering in St Chad’s for prayer and reflection at 10.15 am.
Even though many people were unavoidably away the event was strongly supported with 30 attending the gathering in St Chad’s and nearly twice that number at the War Memorial for the Act of Remembrance.
The sum of £150 was collected for Help for Heroes, and this has been passed to the newly established Phoenix Recovery Centre, at Catterick.

 

John Pilkington Talk
On 22 November in the Village Hall John Pilkington gave a talk about his Balkan Adventure, his 2013 journey from Trieste to Istanbul. It was his eighth visit to Hutton. Excellent content and photos. Proceeds for Oxfam.

 

Christmas Coffee Morning
This year’s Christmas Coffee Morning was held in the Village Hall on Saturday 6 December between 10.30 & 12.30.
Thank you to those who came along to enjoy a coffee and mince pie and join in the festivities helping to raise £60.35 for Village Hall funds.

 

Bogus Beatles 13 December
The Bogus Beatles appeared at Hutton le Hole Village Hall on Saturday 13 December.
Tickets were free to residents. .

 

Carol Service
The annual Carol Service was held at St Chad’s on 21st December at 4pm.

Bumper Raffle & Christmas Quiz

The Bumper Christmas Raffle was drawn on Sunday 28 December at the Crown and made a profit of £205.05 for St Chad’s Church Hutton le Hole. To everyone who supported it in so many various ways a big thank you.
